a-ha appearance at HMV in London

To promote the release of 'Foot of the Mountain' in the UK, a-ha will be doing a signing and an acoustic performance of the new single at the HMV store in the Westfield Shopping Centre in West London on the afternoon of the 28th July.

Update August 20: We just received some video footage of the band performing "Foot of the Mountain" during this in-store concert. Thanks to Chinwe O. and Universal for the video. Enjoy!

Update July 29: We have our first photo from this year's HMV instore! If you were there and have pictures, we'd love it if you submit them to the a-ha.com flickr group.

a-ha HMV Instore | London, UK

Update July 10: a-ha will be performing in the Westfield Mall from 1.00pm before heading to the HMV store to sign copies of their new album. Fans can pick up free wristbands at HMV which allow them access to the event. Wristbands will be available only from the HMV Westfield store, from 8.00am on Tuesday 28 July onwards. One wristband per customer maximum, in person only, while stocks last, subject to availability, at participating store only.

Back in January 2006, a-ha did an instore appearance at the HMV in Oxford Circus in London and drew a crowd of over 700 fans. To obtain a special wristband for access to the event, fans started a queue outside the store in the early hours in frigid temperatures. Later that day the band did a signing and also performed for the crowd in the store.

Later, HMV said it was the most popular instore event they'd had in years, so don't miss out on this special event on July 28! More information will be posted as it is confirmed.

Wow. I have to be there but I know it will be a scrum! I always swore, back in my teens, that I had to meet a-ha at some point in my life! I feel I have to honour the teen version of me.

Ok, now I need to persuade hubby to help me in the scrum!

So pleased all three can make it- after queueing overnight last time would suggest a better system with wristbands this time to avoid having to queue again in the afternoon!!

I also recommend a better wristband queuing system and also for the security not to be so pushy!

So is it going to be the same deal as last time?
Queuing for wristbands or just turning up in the afternoon?
Anyone know?

Was lucky enough to be at One Marylebone last week so may have to give this one a miss as don't have much holiday left. May well change my mind nearer the time though!!

Good luck to all those that do go.

I can't believe this event has been rescheduled! I had booked time off work, arranged three different babysitters and sorted out transport for the 400 mile round trip and all for nothing! I won't be able to make the 28th July because my boss will be abroad and there's no one else who can cover for me at work! I have waited almost 24 years for the chance to go to something like this and now it's been snatched away from me - words cannot describe how utterly devastated I am - someone up there must truly hate me.... :-(

I truly feel so sorry for those who are now not able to see a-ha with the rescheduling of their appearance.  I would be gutted too.  I will be able to be there, and will queue as long as is necessary for this chance.  I was at the HMV in Oxford Street in 2006 - and it was well worth staying out all night, but I sure hope the security guys aren't as pushy and mean as the ones in Oxford Street.  It seems like this is going to be the month of a-ha in London.

I am too gutted that I cant make it today.  Brother is abroad and another guy is on holiday at work so there is no chance that I could ask my boss to have the day off.  Dont have the heart to do it (He is my dad afterall :) ).  So I am at work, v sad, and thinking of all the lucky ppl at the Westfield Shopping Centre being v excited at the prospect of seeing our boys in a couple of hours!!!  Have a fantastic time everyone and please someone put up some photos/vids so we can see how it was :) :)  Do they get to meet the guys afterwards for a signing?????? :(  ARGH Id have loved that!!!  What kills me more is knowing they are only 40 miles away from me right now!  :( :( :( Sods law!!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!!!!

This video is from Italian news channel Sky TG 24 and is about this event, the 25th anniversary of Take On Me and the UK success. The record breaking Rio concert is also mentioned. It was shown yesterday (July 30, 2009) and is now on the "active" section of the TV channel.
